Yeah in everything I've read so far from both sides of the pond, there never was any mention of a V6 TDI. Although there were two different 4 cylinder TDI engines.

Diesel's the only way to go!!!  Low-end power, high MPG in the city and even better on the highway, longer lasting engine, good sustained top end speed when matched with the 6-spd manual transmission... what's the think about?!  I live in Italy and have driven other vehicles with this same engine.  It is superior in so many ways as possibly the best engine for everyday driving.  It's fast, responsive, quiet, clean and reliable.  Finally, it's coming to America.  Brace yourselves for the motor revolution and a generation of hybrid killers.
