New Member Introductions
« on: September 21, 2008, 07:40:52 AM »
I see lots of new members joining but no one is posting. Please introduce yourselves here and feel free to post!

My name is Sylvain and I am the founder and administrator of this board. I currently live in Toronto, Canada but will likely move to Central America in the near to mid-term and that is when I plan to buy a Tiguan. I currently drive a 2006 Volvo XC70.

Hey Sylvain, Thanks for the site. I was hoping a site like this existed already. So, Funny story, I ordered mine back in June and it kept getting delayed. I was getting very anxious about it.  Saturday I got the call that it had cleared customs in the port of Los Angeles and would be at the dealer Monday (yesterday). I still hadn't seen a single Tiguan on the road. Yesterday Morning, As I drove out of my building there was one parked across the street, I saw a second one on the way to work, The third on the back from the dealer ship and a Forth back in my neighborhood (it was a different color that the one I saw in the morning). I don't know if I'm just hyper aware of them all of the sudden but they seem to be all over the place in Los Angeles.

Hi DrKollossus, thanks for joining.

We usually start seeing a bunch more of any car when we become more aware of them. However, looks like the Tiguan is selling quite well.

Alright, I guess I'll introduce myself then.  I am Rhody Tiguan Owner, and I am 3 weeks into my lease of a Candy White SE Tiguan 4Motion with Nav and Sunroof, and I already have 1,300 miles on the car.  So far I love the car.  It has handled great in two big New England and Canadian snowstorms that I have driven it through.  The Nav system works pretty well, but it is a tad on the slow side.  I find that when entering POI data the system seems to slow down or lock up for a minute or so.  Either way, I love the car.  I'm still trying to find some cool accessories online, but can't seem to find anything too good.  Thanks for putting up this site.  Let's hope there's more good postings to come..............

OK no more lurking. We don't have ours yet but the last note from VW was that it was "on water". Hopefully in a ship. We actually have dirt roads out our way where the little bit of extra clearance is welcome. Also a fair degree of heat. It is 42 deg C outside at the moment. I'll report when the car turns up.

Hi this is Shawn from Taiwan.
I am also a Tiguan owner in Taiwan.
There is no club in Taiwan, so may I join it here??

Hope we can learn more from each other. ;D

Hello!  My name is Brandon and I too am a new member/Tiguan owner, so I thought I'd say hi.

We bought a blue/tan SE with sunroof and navi 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it!  I used to drive a BMW M3, but we've had 2 of the worst winters ever here in Eastern Washington, so I had to get a more practical vehicle that could handle deep snow.

I wanted something small and sporty and considered several other compact SUVs (the X3, RDX, etc.) and was surprised to find that I liked the Tig the best.  It's easily as luxurious as the the other luxury brands (even with the cloth), accelerates and handles well, and has the best technology package that allows me to use my iPhone.

I just had the Volk-L kit installed and a couple of changes made for unlocking the doors, which make it even more satisfying.  I got the advertised 18MPG on my first tank of gas around town and find I look forward to driving the Tig each day.

I've been lurking and reading the forums the past couple of weeks and have learned a lot (thanks!) and hope to be able contribute some as I learn more.  I attached a couple of photos and look forward to spending more time here.

Take care...

Brandon

Hi..I am a Tiguan owner as well.  I have had mine since July 2008 and absolutely love it. It drives nice and has some nice features that the North American car makers dont have!  I opted for the Mid class Tiguan as it has what I was looking for. The panarama roof is awesome, and for these cold winter days i am lovin the heated seats!  I think they did a great job on this vehicle!! I have not seen any others on the road in my area yet.

I have the white gold  and hope to get some photos soon!

This website is awesome!!

My Name is David and I too live near Toronto ON.

I am new to the VW family.  I have always been a big car guy, LS430, A8 etc. But my wife wanted something more practical.  Found the Tiguan and thought it was a great balance between the joy of driving and practicality.  There are so many new CUVs out there but you almost always have to compromise performance, but not with the Tiguan.  Love the 2.0L TSI.
